Seminar on Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Management of Dual Diagnosis in Ireland

Launch of Report on Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Management of Dual Diagnosis in Ireland. Seminar held in Tullamore Court Hotel to disseminate findings. Workshop discussions were facilitated and feedback provided at closing plenary. The NACD intend to make the feedback from these workshops available on the website before Christmas. Mr Noel Ahern TD, Minister of State for the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy opened the proceedings. Liam MacGabhann (DCU School of Nursing), principal researcher on the study, presented the findings. Dr Eamon Keenan, Consultant Psychiatrist with South Western Area Health in ERHA and Chair of the NACD Treatment / Rehabilitation Sub Committee provided a keynote address on behalf of the NACD. Mr Tim O’Malley, Minister for State at the Department of Health and Children with responsibility for Mental Health provided the closing address. Workshops were held to discuss the findings and feedback will be collated, a report written and presented to Minister Ahern. The feedback report will also be posted on the website.
