Launch of Report on Drug Use, Sex Work and the Risk Environment in Dublin

A seminar was held in The Coach House, Dublin Castle to mark the launch of the report on Drug Use, Sex Work and the Risk Environment in Dublin. Mr Liam O’Brien, NACD (Chairman of the Consequences Sub-committee) welcomed attendees to the seminar and Mr John Curran T.D. (Minister of State with responsibility for the National Drugs Strategy) provided the opening address. Dr Teresa Whitaker, NACD presented the key findings of the research and this was followed by a presentation from Dr Linda Cusick (University of the West of Scotland) on “The Organisation of Sex Work Related Harm. Kathryn McGarry (TCD) gave a presentation on “Risking Work” The Social Context of Risk Behaviour amongst Drug Using Sex Workers. There were also short presentations on the day from The Women’s Health Project, Novas Hostel, The Chrysalis Community Drug Project and The Gay Men’s Health Project. The seminar concluded with a panel discussion.
