Repeat Capture Recapture Method 3 & 2 - Source Study

Research Brief:

To repeat the 2001 Study and develop prevalence estimates for 2005 using the Capture Recapture Methodology and the following three data sources; the Central Treatment List (CTL); the Hospital Inpatient Enquiry (HIPE) database; and the Garda Síochána Illicit Drug Use and Related Criminal Activity.     

An analysis of 2 source data (CTL and Garda) for Local Drug Task Force areas will also be carried out and compared with 2001 again by age and gender with CIs and describing the limitations.

Small Area Research Unit, Trinity College – Dr Alan Kelly, Conor Teljeur and Marlena Caravello.

Progress:
Preliminary findings are expected towards the end of November 2007 and a draft final report at the end of February 2008.

Early to mid 2008
