Research Brief:
To provide an overview of the international research and literature available regarding the use of
Buprenorphine as an intervention in the treatment of Opiate Dependence Syndrome.

Dissemination:
The report has been sent to Minister Eoin Ryan, TD, with a letter from the Chairperson of the
NACD outlining the key points in the report. Minister Noel Ahern, TD, (successor to Eoin Ryan TD)
has forwarded his comments to the Minister for Health & Children Micheál Martin, TD.,
with two copies of the report. A launch event for a limited audience was held in late October
to disseminate the findings of the report. The report is available from the website or directly
from the office.
