Mr Declan Byrne

Declan has worked for a community-based drugs programme (Kilbarrack Coast Community Programme- ph 01-8324156) since 2000. He is passionate that good quality recovery focused treatment should be provided at local level. He is a member of the Irish Association of Alcohol and Addiction Counsellors and of the Irish Institute of Training and Development. In 2005 he was awarded a Masters in Addiction Studies (DBS Arts) and in 2007 he published ‘Forging a New Template’ –proposing a more effective way of working with drug users (www.hrb.ie). He feels strongly that staff working in the area of addiction should receive appropriate training and supervision.
